Labradors

Whether on the farm or in our home, our loving labs are right with us. They join us in our early morning chores, gathering hay bales in the fields, or keeping our feet warm when we crash on the couch at night. We could not imagine our lives without our playful friends.

I started breeding labradors in 1994 when I was fresh out of veterinary technician school, and fell in love with the labrador breed. I bred and trained my dogs for the show and obedience rings, but overall for the companionship and love they gave me and others. I gave up breeding for awhile as life filled my plate from different directions. In 2006 I started helping local labrador breeders with breeding their dogs. Having recently lost my loving companion Maddie, I was hesitant about opening my heart to the possibility of another dog. However, I would often go early to appointments just to spend time sitting with the new litter of puppies, and letting them lick my face and pull on my shoelaces and clothes, but would not consider taking one home. Then Brydie came along. She had been returned from a home that was not ready to have the responsibility of raising a puppy. My labrador friend called me, and knowing my story of Maddie and her loss, and thought this 3 month old puppy was the one for me. I was hesitant, but when I found out the puppy was born on the same day as my twins and nephew, I knew I’d be coming home with the pup. Brydie filled the hole of loss that I suffered with for so long. She was so playful for me, but gentle and patient with my toddler twins. She is the perfect family dog and then some.
This past spring Brydie was bred to On The Bluff Labradors Valhalla’s Tom Sawyer. Puppies are expected in August.
